Francis Tafoya, The Eight Northern Pueblos

Francis Tafoya, an enrolled member of the Santa Clara Pueblo, is currently the longest serving member on the Board of Regents. He chaired the Board from 2002-2013. He brings tribal government, higher education, and pre-K education experience. Past elected and professional positions for the Santa Clara Pueblo include Lt. Governor, Tribal Secretary, Tribal Council, New Mexico Office of Tribal Education Director, and Head Start Director. Francis also held the positions of Art Development Specialist, Johnson O’Malley Program Coordinator, and Higher Education Grants Director with the Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Council. He has served on numerous education and housing boards and commissions throughout his career.
